B&G software update: optimized radar and visual functionality
B&G, the world leader in navigation and navigation instrumentation, released its 20.2 software update in April, with several new radar features, display updates and integration possibilities that continue to make B&G multifunction displays (MFDs) the best. of the industry. .
“In the NOS 20.2 release, we have made several improvements to the radar and AIS and IP camera support for Zeus, Zeus Glasshelm and Vulcan products, making this update essential for our users,” said Matt Eeles, Product Manager at B&G. “Safety has always been the top priority for our B&G radar systems and we have now added some interface enhancements to provide the user with an even clearer viewing experience on our B&G displays.”
One of the main features is the improved radar display: it features contrasting numbers on the outside of the brightly colored rings and the ability for the user to change the size of the ship icon. Radar target symbols have been redesigned for optimal clarity and easier detection, while moving radar and AIS targets can now display a graduated trail to show the vessel’s course history.

The AIS system also has a new icon set for clarity and more detailed information for the operator. And when radar and AIS acquire the same target, the system automatically displays the target with a single symbol to reduce clutter on the screen (Fig. 2). In addition, the active route can also be displayed on the radar screen to further increase safety.

Other features included in the update include: IP camera support, which allows more efficient installation of cameras for applications including security or navigation monitoring, a new CZone control bar, which allows easy control of digital switching from the MFD B&G and a new ITC lighting control bar for easy control of boat lighting.
Other enhancements include an updated menu structure, the ability to share the vessel configuration across all MFDs without the need to enter data more than once, new Easy Routing libraries optimized for C-MAP charts, and a position identifier of the ship. the message is received on the VHF.
