ONE WEEK TO GO: EXCITEMENT BUILDS FOR SAILGP’S RETURN TO SYDNEY

There is now just one week to go until the F50 fleet commences battle on the iconic waters of Sydney Harbour when the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix gets underway on February 24-25.

The racecourse, race times and racing crews have now been confirmed and preparations are well underway. The league’s 10-strong fleet will hit the water, battling it out across five fleet races before the all-important three-boat, winner-takes-all showdown.

Sydney marks the 8th event of Season 4’s record-breaking 13-event calendar, which means teams will be putting it all on the line in an effort to move up the Championship leaderboard and reach San Francisco’s Grand Final.

Season 3 // France and Switzerland underway in Sydney

The event comes after SailGP’s first ever visit to Abu Dhabi in January, which saw Peter Burling’s New Zealand pick up its second win of the season, beating Diego Botin’s Spain and Taylor Canfield’s United States in tricky light wind conditions.

Season 3 // F50 fleet underway in Sydney

Sydney will mark the second event for new Emirates GBR driver Giles Scott and is expected to challenge crews with some of the heaviest wind conditions of the season after a series of light air events.

The KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix | Sydney takes place on February 24-25, with racing from 16:00 AEDT.
