However it is not difficult to see that during severe storms, after the passing of the cold front the train wave generated by north westerly winds will become crossed with the new wave pattern from the south west. In extreme weather and violent storms their occurrence should not be considered a totally unpredictable anomaly.
The dangers of rogue waves are many. They can capsize ships, damage equipment, and cause injury or death to sailors.
