Winning Calls with Oracle summons the Spanish SailGP team this Thursday, September 24
The team’s co-skipper and wing trimmer, Florian Trittel, along with Cyrille Douillet, data analyst, explain the success of their debut in the first event of the season (Sydney, Feb)
Next Thursday, September 24 at 3:00 p.m. the fifth episode of Winning Calls with Oracle will be broadcast, a series of virtual regattas, which will feature the Spanish SailGP team as a guest.
Developed by SailGP, in collaboration with Oracle, the series offers unpublished commentary and analysis of top regattas by athletes, coaches, and data analysts from SailGP national teams.
Presented by Nico Abad, one of Spain’s most renowned sports journalists, the episode will feature interviews with Florian Trittel, co-skipper and wing trimmer of the Spanish SailGP team, sailor classified for the Tokyo Olympics and world kiteboard champion , and Cyrille Douillet, the team’s data analyst, who previously led data analysis on teams in the Volvo Ocean Race and the America’s Cup.
This fifth edition will provide the viewer with an exclusive and unprecedented insight into how tactical decision making and in-depth data analysis, Big Data and the Oracle Cloud, contributed to the impressive debut of the youngest team in the fleet at the Sydney event. SailGP in February 2020.
The Spanish SailGP team demonstrated their skill by extracting valuable information from the data that allowed them to face the SailGP team of Great Britain, winners of the Australian event, face to face.
SailGP’s technological strategy is unique in the world of sports, since all data is available in real time from the Oracle Cloud and is freely accessible. After each training or regatta, teams review terabytes of data, both their own and their competitors, to continually improve and gain a competitive advantage.
It will be a unique and interesting debate where fans will learn how speed and data can help make winning decisions, as well as reliving all the excitement of the third race of the last event in Sydney analyzed in depth by the members of the Spanish team.
