Santiago Lange to Paris 2024
Olympic champion and athlete Red Bull began training alongside Victoria Travascio as a partner
Santiago Lange prolongs the legend: the gold medalist in Rio de Janeiro 2016 decided to undertake a new Olympic campaign aboard the Nacra 17. Along with Victoria Travascio as a partner and with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as a goal , began training last Tuesday in San Isidro, Buenos Aires.
“I realized that doing this, racing regattas, I love it; I still really enjoy it. So why quit? A new challenge begins, which I know is very complicated but also beautiful ”, says Lange, a Red Bull athlete, who has already competed in seven Olympics.
After a few months of standing after the last Olympic Games, in which he considered the possibility of retirement, the sailor explains: “It was a long evaluation process. I learned a lot from the result in Tokyo, and I also know that in all the years that we shared, with Ceci Carranza –my duo in Rio and Tokyo– we achieved an impressive level of excellence. With that very clear, things to be written are ahead, knowing that the path to achieving a medal is difficult ”.
In the last Olympic event, Lange and Carranza – who were the Argentine flag bearers in the opening ceremony – were left with a diploma by achieving seventh place in the general table.
VictoriaTravascio (La Plata, 1988) achieved with María Sol Branz in 49er FX the gold medal at the Pan American Games in Toronto 2015 and the bronze in Lima 2019; she debuted at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 (13th) and competed in Tokyo 2020, where she achieved an outstanding 5th place.
“We started a preparation in which we must get to know each other as a duo, learn to work together on the ship and add filming to grow. It fills us with enthusiasm ”, they have, with summer ahead to set up.
