The 14th edition of the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona regatta, which begins its journey tomorrow until next Saturday the 17th, will once again bring to Barcelona a selection of the most significant classic sailboats in the world after the unavoidable pause due to the pandemic.

The classic sailing regatta once again highlights the excellent conditions of Barcelona to host as the only international capital that celebrates a meeting of true legends of the sea. On this occasion, in the regatta fields of the city of Barcelona, it will bring together boats from 5 countries in the most important nautical event of its kind in Spain.

The Real Club Náutico de Barcelona has all its facilities ready to host the event.

After the successes achieved since 2008, the year in which the first edition was held, its projection both nationally and internationally has been growing and consolidating thanks to the interest of shipowners and sailors to meet in Barcelona the selection of the best Mediterranean boats from from Spain, France, Italy, England, Germany, Holland or the United States.

In order to facilitate the spectacle of these boats with imposing sails for the citizens, the nautical competitions approach the coast of the city. Thanks to this proximity to the regatta fields, the regatta can be seen from different emblematic settings such as Port Vell, Barceloneta or Port Olímpic.

For four days, the entire city will witness a unique spectacle, which can only be enjoyed in very few places in the world, such as Antibes, the Isle of Wight, Newport or Cannes. In these days, the docks of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona will house an authentic floating museum, surrounded by the most seafaring camaraderie, in a sophisticated atmosphere, as can only be found among lovers of classic yachts.

As usual, the XIV Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona Regatta will be open to two categories depending on the model and year of construction of the boats, based on the criteria of the Regulations of the International Mediterranean Committee (CIM): Vintage Boats: Launched boats until December 31, 1949 and built according to the criteria of the CIM Regulation and Classic Boats: boats launched between January 1, 1950 and December 31, 1975 and built according to the criteria of the CIM Regulation.
