The Catalan Nautical Cluster has launched the action ‘We clean the ports’, which aims to clean the water surface of the ports of Catalonia in a period of four years.
To meet this deadline, the initiative plans to clean twelve ports each year (4 in Girona, 4 in Barcelona and 4 in Tarragona) in the months prior to the nautical season.
The waste collection is carried out with the water drone manufactured by the Catalan company Ona Safe and Clean, a finalist in one of the editions of the Nautical Sector Innovation Awards, promoted by the Catalan Nautical Cluster. It is a boat with a catamaran hull that works with an electric motor with batteries and a remote control with an integrated camera and that is capable of filtering a surface of 5000 m2 of water sheet, or a volume of 780 m3 per hour of work at speed of 2 knots.
