ILCA 6 2024 Women’s World Championship – Overall

Today concluded one of the most importantt events of the year, the ILCA 6 2024 Women’s World Championship, organized by the Yacht Club Argentino and the International Laser Class Association, held in the City of Mar del Plata, Argentina.

On the sixth and final day of the championship, the last race of the gold and silver fleet developed with an east wind of around 12 knots. As the day progressed, the wind shifted to the northeast and gradually decreased to 7 knots, closing the Medal Race with the classic Mar del Plata breeze.

Anne Marie Rindom from Denmark was crowned Women’s World Champion in the ILCA 6 Class 2024, maintaining the lead throughout the championship. The current Olympic champion accumulated a total of 58 points in eleven races. The American Charlotte Rose finished in second place with 75 points, and with a three-point difference, the Belgian Emma Plasschaert secured the third position.

The top ten was completed by the following sailors:

6th Monika Mikkola | FIN
7th Maria Erdi | HUN
8th Maxime Jonker | NED
9th Josefin Olsson | SWE
10th Hannah Snellgrove | GBR

Seven spots were awarded for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Finland, Ireland, Uruguay, Spain, Brazil, Turkey and Mexico.

A total of 105 boats from 47 countries participated, including naval powers such as Germany, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Bermuda, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, the United States, Slovenia, Spain, Fiji, Finland, France, Guatemala, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Lithuania, Mexico, Norway, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
