Earth 300 explorer yacht
This 984-foot explorer yacht has a giant sphere that houses the “city of science.”
With enough space for 160 scientists, the ship also has 22 state-of-the-art laboratories for ocean research.
Iddes Yachts led by naval architect Iván Salas Jefferson, has unveiled a bold new concept that looks more like a ship of the future. than an expedition ship.
The Earth 300, has the mission of conducting research expeditions to “face the greatest challenges on earth”
With the naval architecture of NED, she is 984 feet (300 meters) long.
Most of it dedicated to science equipment and technology directly from Silicon Valley.
The Earth 300 has 22 state-of-the-art labs.
Its astonishing “scientific sphere” resides on the aft deck which houses a vast area dedicated to ocean research.
The vessel also incorporates the latest in robotics and artificial intelligence technology, along with a fleet of advanced underwater vessels to assist with deep-sea studies.
The vessel has a prominent observation deck located at the front of the vessel that will provide unparalleled views of the surroundings when a break from research is required.
The foredeck has a helideck for a helicopter that can support further exploration by air.
It has the capacity to house more than 400 people. A total of 160 scientists, 20 experts in residence, 20 students, 40 VIP guests and about 165 crew members.
Earth 300 is designed to sail without emissions, it will work with nuclear technology known as molten salt reactors (MSR), providing clean and sustainable energy and cheaper than other types of propulsion. Danish startup Seaborg Technologies recently secured $ 24 million for the development of marine reactors.
Preliminary vessel design and naval engineering are now complete, and the project has won several partners, including IBM, RINA, Triton Submarines, and EYOS Expeditions. Iddes anticipates that Earth 300 will launch in 2025.
