Greenwich Women’s Cup

Marina Greenwich hosts this coming Saturday, March 9, the first regatta in its history and will do so in a competition made up entirely of women

Marina Greenwich makes the leap to competition, to high-level sailing, and does so with a regatta that goes beyond the merely sporting since its objective, its great commitment, is to work for equality and the inclusion of women in sailing regattas in our country.

The Greenwich Women’s Cup, which will be held this coming Saturday, March 9, is the first of the regattas that this private marina plans to launch, located in one of the most attractive places in the Marina Baja, between Calpe and Altea. The competition will feature the eight best female crews in Spain in a fleet format, with the Tom28 one-designs.

The zero regatta, in itself, is Marina Greewinch’s first contact with high competition and that is why she has worked very intensely these months, taking care of even the smallest detail to offer one of the best images to all sailors from Galicia, Community of Madrid, Andalusia, Basque Country, Region of Murcia and Valencian Community.

From the first minute, the management of Marina Greenwich was clear that their first event in the sport of sailing had to be something special. For this reason, she thought of a regatta that was something more than a competition, a bet on gender equality, in fact, almost entirely the regatta committee will be made up of women.

The Tom28 show that these eight female crews will offer is guaranteed, in an incomparable setting surrounded by nature and in a unique enclave and fundamental piece for tourism in the Valencian Community.
