Charlie Enright recognised as US Sailing’s Yachtsman of the Year for 2023

Charlie Enright, who led his 11th Hour Racing Team to victory in The Ocean Race, has won US Sailing’s Rolex Yachtsman of the Year Award for 2023.

Last July, Enright became the first American skipper to lead a US-flagged team to victory in 50-year history of The Ocean Race.

“It’s iconic,” Enright said about the award. “It makes me think of all the people who have come before all of us. I’ve done a lot of sailing with some of the other finalists who were nominated, and I’ve certainly learned a lot from all of them. This is an individual award in theory, but it takes a village no matter what you’re doing, and I can’t say enough about all the teammates that we had in this endeavor.”

It was Enright’s third attempt at winning The Ocean Race. He first competed in the 2014-15 edition.

In November, his 11th Hour Racing Team was recognised as World Sailing’s Team of the Year.
