PASSING OF BARON BENJAMIN DE ROTHSCHILD, FOUNDER AND OWNER OF THE GITANA TEAM
It is with great emotion and deep sadness that the Gitana Team announces the death of Benjamin de Rothschild after a heart attack at his home in Pregny (Switzerland), on the afternoon of January 15, 2021.

An extraordinary personality, he has never stopped transforming and modernizing his heritage, respecting the values of the family.
It is in this pioneering spirit and to continue the Gypsy saga started by his great-aunt Julie de Rothschild and his father, that in 2000 with his wife Ariane de Rothschild, he created the Gypsy Team. With this high-tech offshore racing stable dedicated to performance and team spirit, in just a few years, he turned a family passion of over a hundred years into a school of excellence; victory in the Route du Rhum, the English Transat, the Rolex Fastnet Race, the Transat Jacques Vabre, or during the Orma Grand Prix or the transatlantic races where he embarked with his teams, all these moments
