The 11th Hour Racing Team (USA) and Team Malizia (GER) IMOCA teams have both announced significant new additions to their sailing team lineups for The Ocean Race 2022-23.

The American syndicate 11th Hour Racing Team, skippered by Charlie Enright, has recruited the Australian-born yachtsman Jack Bouttell – a highly accomplished ocean racer and past winner of The Ocean Race.

Meanwhile, Boris Herrmann’s Team Malizia has brought on renowned French sailor Nicolas Lunven to race aboard the team’s brand new boat, Malizia-Seaexplorer, which was launched in France this week.

Bouttell – who is based in Lorient, France – won the 2017-18 edition of The Ocean Race with Dongfeng Race Team and has since established an enviable reputation as a true ocean racing all-rounder capable of expertly filling any role offshore.

Bouttell joins 11th Hour Racing Team skipper Enright and fellow crew members Francesca Clapcich (ITA), Justine Mettraux (SUI), Simon Fisher (GBR), and onboard reporter Amory Ross (USA).

Lunven first made his name as a solo sailor, winning the prestigious Solitaire du Figaro trophy in 2009 at the age of 26, and again in 2017, as well as finishing on the podium in 2012 and 2016.

His first edition of The Ocean Race was in 2014-15 when he sailed with the Spanish MAPFRE team. In the last edition he raced as navigator aboard the VO65 Turn the Tide on Plastic and has since found himself much in demand among professional ocean racing teams.

Lunven Team Malizia crewmates for The Ocean Race 2022-23 include Boris Herrmann (GER), Will Harris (GBR), Rosalin Kuiper (NED) as well as OBR Antoine Auriol (FRA).
