2024 ILCA 6 Youth and Men’s World Championships – Day 3

In the city of Mar del Plata, the third day of races took place in the 2024 ILCA 6 Youth and Men’s World Championships, organized by the Yacht Club Argentino and the International Laser Class Association.

Today’s session began with southeast winds ranging from 6 to 8 knots. Due to the variable wind direction and intensity, the day proved challenging, with the wave taking the center stage. The races were highly competitive, and all boats finished very tightly.

In the Open category, three races were held, and the Argentine Francisco Renna maintains the lead with a 7-point advantage over the second-placed Brazilian, Antonio Cavalcanti Rosa. Completing the podium is the Argentine Juan Pablo Bisio.

In the youth women’s category, three races were also contested. Italian Maria Vittoria Arseni remains in the first position, after winning the last race of the day. She is followed by the Ukrainian Alina Shapovalova, who achieved two second places in today’s races. Completing the podium is Sienna Wright from Ireland.

The youth male category completed two races, and the Italian Antonio Pascali continues to lead the classification. In the second position is the Brazilian Thomas Vives Potthoff, who closely trails with a 3-point difference from the leader. The American Jake Homberger is in third place.

At the end of the day, a Mid Week Party was held in the tent for all competitors. Today marked the conclusion of the qualifying stage, and tomorrow the final series will begin, with fleets divided into gold and silver.
