Wally Yachts WHY200
The Wally shipyard unveiled its latest design, the WHY200, and claims it’s a cool new “spaceship” in more ways than one.
Wally’s 89ft WHY200 offers 50% more space than standard yachts
The 88-foot, 9-inch compact vessel weighs just 200 gross tons, offering all the comforts of a superyacht, as well as the speed of a semi-displacement yacht.
WHY200 was designed by Luca Bassani, in association with Grupo Ferretti.
It features naval architecture by Laurent Giles NA and interior design by A. Vallicelli & C Studio.
The expandable beach club offers direct access to the ocean on three sides.
“Through the WHY200, we are challenging preconceptions about what a yacht should be and how it can be used,” said Wally CEO Stefano de Vivo. “It is a platform that can be enjoyed by the whole family or groups of friends.”
In fact, the WHY200 offers more than 2,153 square feet of interior living space. Inside is an expansive, full-beam main salon, which Wally claims is 50% larger than those found on comparable ships. To achieve this, the team took the areas generally reserved for exterior hallways and incorporated them into the large 656-square-foot living room.
From here, a central carbon fiber staircase connects the magnificent glassed-in sky lounge on the upper deck and the luxury accommodation on the lower deck.
The ship can accommodate three or four double cabins depending on the chosen layout. Of course, it’s the owner’s suite on the bow that brings the wow factor with 398 square feet of space and large wraparound glass windows providing uninterrupted views.

Elsewhere there is a galley and crew area of over 344 square feet. A casual open kitchen can also be installed as an option if you are a foodie.
For those who enjoy the outdoors, the WHY200 offers another 1,550 square feet of outdoor terrace space designed for al fresco dining and relaxing al fresco. The main aft deck is flanked by glass panels to provide shelter while providing views of the water. The aft upper deck, on the other hand, offers plenty of room to stretch out on lounge chairs.
The extendable beach club is another standout feature with folding wings that provide 344 square feet of space and direct access to the ocean on three sides. Thanks to two hidden garages, sailors will also have access to a 13-foot dinghy and various water toys.

The WHY200 is Wally’s first hybrid yacht and features an adaptive Volvo multi-propulsion system that can reach an impressive 20 knots in hyperdrive mode or tackle greater distances more economically in long-range cruise mode. She is also equipped with fin stabilizers and gyroscope to keep her stable at sea.
The WHY200 will debut at the Ferretti Group‘s private presentation in Monaco in September.
