Venice without water
Venice with l’acqua bassa
In Venice there are casualties of up to 50 centimeters and some canals are without water.
Venice, the city of canals, is in a difficult situation. The water dropped to critical levels, where all you can see is the mud on the bottom, making it impossible for the boats to circulate.
The phenomenon is associated with the fluctuating tides that affect the city located on a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea.
This situation began to be noticed since last February 24, and it has now reached a critical point. In its normal values, the tide sets between 50 and 79 centimeters from the bottom. At this time there are losses of up to 50 centimeters and some canals are practically without water.
