Registration opens
Registration for this final virtual rehearsal before the Vendée Globe 2024 opens this Friday 1st September at 16h30. The start from the mythical Cape Horn will be given on 10th September at 18:00.
A strategic race back
For the Vendée Globe sailors, the tension may have eased a notch after rounding the famous cape, but there are still 7,000 miles to go! And this section of the course may hold some surprises… First of all, there’s the Saint Helen’s anticyclone, which they’ll have to get round while negotiating the stormy depressions coming from Brazil. Contrary and irregular breezes, significant wind shifts, fronts to cross… Players will have to be extremely diligent to make it through, before reaching the dreaded doldrums. Players will then be back in the trade winds of the northern hemisphere. Once again, they will have to avoid getting stuck in the dreaded calms of the Azores High until they finally hit the Atlantic depressions. At the finish in Les Sables d’Olonne, they will cross the legendary line that marks the end of the solo, non-stop, non-assisted circumnavigation of the globe at the famous Nouch Sud cardinal buoy.
Heading towards 2024
The last major virtual race before the 10th edition of the 2024 round the world race, which will start on 10th November, represents fantastic training just over a year away from the next Vendée Globe, which will hold a whole host of surprises in store for Virtual Regatta!
