Team announces race veteran Simeon Tienpont will lead the team for Europe
Team Childhood 1 has announced several key crew ahead of The Ocean Race Europe.
Simeon Tienpont (NED) will skipper a team that includes race veterans Peter van Niekerk, Gerd Jan Poortman, Wouter Verbraak, and Olympic sailor Pieter-Jan Postma.
The crew will also include young Dutch and Swedish sailors.
“This relatively short-term campaign is a wonderful opportunity to pass on our knowledge and experience to the next generation of Dutch, and hopefully also Swedish, sailors. And most important at the end of the day, we’re all just sailors. Male and female, young and a little bit older, who just want to race and win.”
