Solitaire du Figaro. Exit from a decisive third stage
The start of the third stage of the 51st edition of La Solitaire du Figaro will take place this Saturday at 4 p.m. in front of the entrance to the port of Dunkerque. 492 miles to go on a theoretical route that separates the city of Flanders from the finish line in Loire-Atlantique.
Francis Le Goff, race director, and Alexis Loison, regional stage on the Normandy coast where everything could be decided, believe that this stage will be “decisive”.
This stage is certainly moderate from the meteorological point of view, but all the dangers in the sporting aspect, because of its configuration, and because of what is at stake in a general classification notable for the small differences between the competitors.
A third stage that will not finally be contested by one of the race’s favorites, Corentin Douguet (NF Habitat), who announced on Friday night in Dunkirk that he was abandoning the race, victim shortly before the start of this 51st edition of a fracture of a cervical vertebra that will have made him suffer martyrdom in the first two stages before forcing him to leave, on the advice of his doctors.
