The Long Beach Yacht Club is excited to announce that a new date has been set for the postponed Seawanhaka International Challenge Cup.
While we were disappointed that the event could not be held this year due to the global Covid pandemic, we are looking forward to hosting a world class event next year from May 31 to June 5. The new Notice of Race and Deed of Gift are now posted.
The Seawanhaka Cup is an historic international challenge for the purpose of promoting small yacht racing and developing the Corinthian spirit among competing yachtsmen. It is considered to be the oldest yachting trophy originated in the United States that is still in active competition. The first challenge was sailed in Oyster Bay, New York in 1895. The Seawanhaka Cup is a match racing event open to international teams who are all regular members of the yacht club they are representing and a national of the country where the club resides.
Any qualifying yacht club wishing to participate should complete a Request for Invitation and return it to LBYC as soon as possible, the entries are limited. Race documents, event history, and other details are available on the 2022 Seawanhaka Cup web page found on the Long Beach Yacht Club
