FIRST TEAMS HIT THE WATER AHEAD OF THIS WEEKEND’S MUBADALA SAILGP SEASON 3 GRAND FINAL IN SAN FRANCISCO
The first SailGP teams have been spotted training on the iconic waters of San Francisco Bay ahead of this weekend’s Mubadala SailGP Season 3 Grand Final.
Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team, the United States, Switzerland and Denmark hit the water in San Francisco ahead of official practice racing tomorrow.
Elsewhere, SailGP has well and truly landed in the city, with the Tech Base built and all F50s assembled ahead of two days of fast and furious racing on May 6 & 7.
The entire hydrofoiling fleet will hit the water on Friday for official practice, before official racing gets underway between 14:30 – 16:00 PDT on Saturday and Sunday.
Teams will compete in five fleet races before the top three teams proceed to the winner-takes-all, championship-deciding Grand Final showdown.
Two-time defending champions Australia are currently the only team to have banked a place in the Grand Final, while Peter Burling’s New Zealand, currently in second place, looks set to join them.
But a battle is brewing between Quentin Delapierre’s France and Ben Ainslie’s Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team, which are just one point apart in third and fourth place respectively.
