SAILGP TEAMS UP WITH CREATURES UNITED TO ENGAGE FANS IN THE CLIMATE CONVERSATION
SailGP has launched an innovative new partnership with Creatures United to more effectively engage fans with the climate conversation.
Our six creatures, introduced below, will help us amplify the stories of nature while driving awareness around the league’s pioneering Impact League, the sport’s Podium for the Planet.
Created in a collaboration between artist Yago Partal, the Sunshine Agency, On Purpose Group, and Project17, the six creatures are a careful selection of species, habitat, inclusivity and relevance.
They comprise Hoku the sailfish, Nayna the cheetah, Karry the mandarin fish, Alasie the polar bear, Koa the yellow boxfish, and River the marine iguana. All have their own connection to the ocean and their own stories to tell.
The aim is to use the creatures to engage over 50 million fans with the league’s purpose stories, driving awareness of the global racing championship’s pioneering Impact League and the broader issues facing the planet.
Closing the Engagement Gap
Speaking about the campaign, SailGP’s Chief Purpose Officer Fiona Morgan pointed to ‘a huge consumer engagement gap with climate change, and sustainability actions’.
“Our bespoke team of creatures has been born to fight that inertia,” she said, adding that the creatures’ passionate stories has ‘have opportunity to shift mindsets’.
“This is our first ever fan engagement campaign and we are incredibly excited to, in an unexpected creative way, engage our fans to drive real meaningful change.”
Throughout the upcoming 2024-2025 Season, the creatures will be embedded in Impact League milestones, helping to tell stories around the positive environmental impacts generated by SailGP athletes and the league.
