Sailboat stuck on Big Marco Pass starts decaying 4 months later
Paul van Gils and his wife Claudia set sail back in December in hopes to go around the world, now that’s a long-lost dream as their sailboat is still stuck on Big Marco Pass four months later.
Sailing was a part of who they were. Now, it’s a haunting memory of a near-death experience, a nightmare van Gils said they are still living in.
After Towboat US failed to rescue their sailboat, the company’s towboat sank in the process.
Now, the boat is decaying off Sand Dollar Island.
