PERSICO 69F CUP: GRAND PRIX 3.1
LACORTE-BRESSANI-ZENNARO WIN ON FLYINGNIKKA 47
The circuit says goodbye to Lake Garda: now off to the Barcolana and in November in Porto Cervo for the season finale.
A day begun with a storm and ended with three races closes Grand Prix 3.1 of Persico 69F Cup, that says goodbye to Lake Garda after three months of honored staying as guests at the Circolo Vela Gargano before and, in the last few weeks, in Fraglia Vela Malcesine.
The stage victory goes to the eclectic Roberto Lacorte on FlyingNikka 47, today third, second and first in an amazing crescendo: three races added to the other seven of Thursday, when the race committee capitalized as much as possible, after evaluating the weather conditions. The owner, entrepreneur, racing driver Lacorte, who, as he says, is not far away from twice as old as the components of team Young Azzurra, assisted by Lorenzo Bressani and Enrico Zennaro, has never given up, and got off his FlyingNikka 47 smiling and thanked everyone because “here we are learning so much about flying, and these are very useful skills for our sport future” he said looking forward, as only an enlightened owner-sportsman would do.
The quality of the day is the right mix between control and focus: three of the five teams, FlyingNikka 47, Young Azzurra and Fantastica 2, went on water this morning with half a point between them, and the three races of today were strategic for the result of the stage and of the circuit.
Conditions with wind blowing in different intensity and directions have made the tactic crucial, as the skill of staying as much as possible on foil at every air leak. Guaranteed fun, and the first three teams were ready to push from the beginning, so much so that in the first race they all got an OCS and got penalized. The final ranking rewards FlyingNikka 47 – which is also first in the provisional board of the circuit – confirms the great performance of Young Azzurra – that now waits everyone at their house, in Porto Cervo in November – and third place for Nico Celon on Fantastica 2. Fourth place for FlyingNikka 74 and fifth, with experience, the new entry S.V Marmolada.
For the Persico 69F fleet it’s time to pack: three boats and a big part of the organizers are leaving for Trieste, where the Persico 69Fs will take part in the Barcolana FUN by Siram Veolia from October 7th to October 10th and Team 69F will participate in the Barcolana on Portopiccolo Prosecco DOC, a Maxi of 90 feet that will have at the wheel Nico Celon – “we will go a bit slower, there”, says the sailor from Lake Garda.
The next stage of circuit will be in Porto Cervo, guests in November of Yacht Club Costa Smeralda: the Persico 69F will taste salty water, which should facilitate spin out from water, but will challenge everyone with the waves. “We will start training immediately – say the hosts of YCCS, the guys of Young Azzurra – it will be a whole new story and we will be waiting for you”. The challenge is launched, while the organizers already have big projects for 2021. Stay tuned!
