BARCELONA WINTER SERIES 2021-2022

Alcaidesa Marina by Gustavo Martínez Doreste and Germán Panei are the winners in the penultimate series of the international Barcelona Winter Series

The  fifth round of the international J70 Barcelona Winter Series was held, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona.
In this penultimate series, 14 teams from 6 nations England, Germany, Poland, Russia, Portugal and Spain have competed, with a high level of crews.
On Saturday, the 4 tasks scheduled for the day were played, with a complicated wave and a 14-15 knot easterly wind, which dropped to 7 knots during the day.
The day concluded with some partials in which Gustavo Martínez Doreste’s ‘Alcaidesa Marina’ was in the lead, followed by Pablo Garriga’s ‘Tenaz’ with Rayco Tabares from Lanzarote in second position, the podium was closed by ‘Autolica Tropicfeel ‘ by Luis Martínez Doreste and Ricardo Terrades, tied with ‘Bodega Can Marlès’ skippered by Jorge Martínez Doreste.
On Sunday the conditions were very different from the previous day, sun and sea with little wave, the wind shifted to the south and after a postponement due to lack of wind, finally the first start was given with a light wind of 4 knots that was rising up to 9 knots, allowing the J70 to complete a total of 3 tasks out of the 4 scheduled for the day. The podium remained as the day before, but with a much tighter score.
The first place on the podium and winners of the fifth series, ‘Alcaidesa Marina’ led by Gustavo Martínez Doreste and Germán Panei with 17 points, followed by ‘Tenaz’ led by Pablo Garriga (RCNB) with Rayco Tabares -18 points only one point behind – and closing the podium are the canaries ‘Autolica Tropicfeel’ with Luis Martínez Doreste and Ricardo Terrades, who sail under the banner of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, ​​the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria, and the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.
The sixth series will be held from March 25 to 27, in this last appointment we will meet the winners of the Barcelona Winter Series 2021-2022 edition. The first event of the Barcelona J70 Spring Series 2022 will be inaugurated on the same weekend, also organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, ​​and which consists of 3 events, in March, April and May, the latter coinciding with the Championship of Catalonia of J70 and a prelude to the Conde de Godó Sailing Trophy, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona, ​​and which is held from May 26 to 29.

1st – RCNB/RCNA/RCNGC – Autolica Tropicfeel by Luis Martínez Doreste and Ricardo Terrades = 86 points
2nd – RCNB – Tenacious by Pablo Garriga and Rayco Tabares on tactics = 96 points
3rd – CN Vilanova– Bodega Can Marlés by Jorge Martínez Doreste = 117 points
4th RCNB – News by Luis Martín Cabiedes = 156 points
5º ALCAIDESA MARINA – Alcaidesa Marina of Gustavo Martínez Doreste and Germán Panei = 179 points

The J70 one-design regatta consists of six series that run from October to March and is organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona.
