ILCA 6, 49er and 49er FX : A great dress rehearsal on the Bay of Palma

Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta turned the Bay of Palma into an Olympic sailing arena stadium over this past weekend during which the champions of the Spanish Cup in ILCA 6, 49er and 49er FX classes were decided.   

The 2025 edition of the Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta concluded after three days of varied conditions that allowed racing in the five participating categories: 470 Mixed, 49er, 49er FX, ILCA 6 and ILCA 7. The Nacra 17 did not muster the minimum number of participants to run a regatta.

In 49er overall victory went to the Austrians Keanu Prettner and Jakob Flachberger after five races. In their case, they achieved an advantage of two points over the French Erwan Fischer and Clément Péquin, the 2024 world champions, and three points over the Danish Frederick Rask and Jakob Precht.

Spanish Cup 2025

The Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta scored as Copa de España (Spanish Cup) 2025 for ILCA 6, 49er and 49er FX classes.

The 49er Copa de España champions were the brothers Martín and Jaime Wizner, from the Real Club Náutico de Vigo. The Galicians finished ninth overall among a fleet of 51 teams.

In 49er FX, the Copa de España went to the duo formed by Alicia Fras and Elena Barrio, seventeenth among a total fleet of 26 teams.

Next stop, the Sofia

With the Mallorca Sailing Center Regatta completed, the teams are finalizing preparations to compete for the 54th edition of the Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels, to be held from March 28th to April 5th in the Bay of Palma. The first Saling Grand Slam 2025 event is open to the ten disciplines of the current Olympic cycle.

The 54th Trofeo S.A.R. Princesa Sofia Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels is jointly organized by the Club Nàutic S’Arenal, the Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, the Real Club Náutico de Palma, the Real Federación Española de Vela and the Federación Balear de Vela, with the support of World Sailing. Event co-financed with the Sustainable Tourism Tax fund of the Government of the Balearic Islands.
