The 54th French Olympic Week in Hyères (SOF) will take place between 22 to 29 April 2023. With Paris 2024 Olympic Games just over a year away, the world’s best athletes will be present in Hyères. And on the water, the 10 Olympic series will put on a show!
For more than 50 years, the international elite of Olympic sailing has been meeting every spring in Hyères in the Var county, South of France, and this year again the meeting will be all-star showing with more than 700 competitors expected from over 50 nations.
Organised by the Fédération Française de Voile (French Sailing Federation), with the support of the city of Hyères and the Toulon Provence Méditerranée community, the Semaine Olympique Française (SOF) is an historic Olympic sailing regatta on an international scale.
Christophe Gaumont, SOF Event Manager: “The French Olympic Week in Hyères will be a continuation of the very successful 2022 edition. This year we are expecting more than 700 athletes. In order to improve and adapt the organisation to the large number of competitors expected in 2023, we have worked on setting up a 6th race zone.. ”
Ed Russo, SOF Event Director: “World Sailing has decided that in 2024 the SOF will be the “last chance regatta”, i.e. the last opportunity for athletes to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. Many athletes will be present this year in preparation for the 2024 event”.
The return of onshore entertainment
Throughout the week, numerous activities for young and old as well as festivities will be offered to the public in the SOF village, starting on Saturday 22 April 2023.
