End of season 1 of the Pro Sailing Tour
After 5 1/2 days at sea during the Final Rush, the curtain fell on the first season of the Pro Sailing Tour.
After Brest, La Rochelle, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Sam Goodchild and his entire team reiterate their victory. In this final episode, they prevail at the end of a 1,650-mile drive between Toulon and Brest, marked by numerous regroups and a final sprint across the Bay of Biscay of rare intensity. In the end, it is again Leyton who wins ahead of Arkema 4, his most faithful runner-up. These two crews, consistently at the forefront of offshore racing, legitimately share the top two places on the overall podium (before the jury) at the end of this season 1 of the Pro Sailing Tour.
The good surprise came from the crew in the colors of the fight against multiple sclerosis who finished third in Brest, 57 seconds behind, from the Arkema 4 trio led by Quentin Vlamynck. Thibaut Vauchel-Camus and his crew, authors of a magnificent race, were the great leaders of this Final Rush that allowed them to give their full potential. And to make a good operation since they complete the podium (before the jury) of the general classification in the circuit reserved exclusively for the Ocean Fifty trimarans. “The course of this Final Rush was just brilliant. We all agree that we compete in an extraordinary regatta with contact, transitions, laps, intensity, lightness, tactics, wild boar … We had a great time and we are happy to have had some success to play our last card and finish on the podium of this Pro Sailing Tour. We are reaping the progress we have made during the season. We were on the attack and quite far-sighted ”, says Thibaut Vauchel-Camus, Solidaires skipper in Peloton – ARSEP. And to add: “At the end of this season start, we realize that the fleet is freaking homogeneous at the top tier. This Pro Sailing Tour gave us a really nice field of expression with a remarkable sportsmanship within the Ocean class. Fifty, with fighting and a lot of fair play. The format of the circuit allowed us to show what our boats are capable of, both on land and at sea. In three months, this is the first time that we have raced so much in such diverse bodies of water The format is there and it works well at the sporting level, as in terms of exchanges with our partners, with the communities that have welcomed us like kings. I can’t wait for next season! ”
