EuroCup France Waszp
Last European event in La Grande Motte before the grand finale in Spain
From October 21st to 26th, La Grande Motte will host the EuroCup France in Waszp, the only French stop on the European circuit. Around thirty international competitors, fans of the famous foiling dinghy, are expected in the city of pyramids. Among them is the reigning world champion, as well as some of the best French racers, including the “regional competitors” who train all year round in the Bay of Camargue.
This event, organized by the CEM – with the support of the Yacht Club de La Grande Motte – is the last EuroCup* before the final in Barcelona in December. The stakes are therefore high for the 2025 European ranking.
For this unique French leg, German, Italian, Belgian, and Swiss sailors will be on the starting line alongside the French racers. The six CEM athletes involved in the competition will be sailing “in their backyard,” and will try to shine on home soil. This is the case for Hippolyte Gruet, an engineering student at INSA, world No. 5 and aficionado of the circuit for almost 4 years. But also for Mattéo Chaboud, who is making great progress (winner of the Coupe de France this summer), and Baptiste Courtias.
They will face the big favorite of the competition, the Italian Federico Bergamasco, 20 years old, winner of the Waszp Games 2025 (world championship) and leader of the world ranking.
After a few days of on-site training, the competition will begin on Friday, October 24, with a dozen spectacular regattas on the menu, visible on the water or from the west beach, in front of the Yacht Club.

5:00 p.m.: Awards ceremony
