Titan OceanGate
Netflix added a documentary to its catalog this Wednesday, June 11, that explores the tragedy surrounding the submarine.
Running 1 hour and 50 minutes and directed by Mark Monroe, the documentary chronologically recreates the events from the moments leading up to the tragedy to the terrible discovery of the submarine’s remains.
Using eyewitness accounts, images, previously unpublished data, and expert analysis, the production seeks to shed light on the causes of the accident, the failures, and the poor decisions that led to that tragic end.
More than two years have passed since OceanGate’s Titan submarine dived into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean to explore the wreckage of the Titanic. What at first seemed like a simple expedition ended up being a nightmare with terrible consequences.
As the days passed, the inevitable became clear: the Titan submarine imploded, killing all five people instantly.
The tragedy occurred in 2023, when the submersible mysteriously disappeared with five people on board, an event that shook the entire population. Five passengers were on board the Titan, including English billionaire Hamish Harding; wealthy British-Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son, Suleman; French explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet; and OceanGate founder and submarine pilot, Stockton Rush.
