DEADPOOL VS WOLVERINE: HUGH JACKMAN AND RYAN REYNOLDS FACE OFF IN VALENCIA
The claws were out and the trash talk was on as Hollywood heavyweights Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds brought their Deadpool & Wolverine rivalry to SailGP.
Reynolds claimed bragging rights in Valencia, winning a high-speed scrap against fellow Bonds Flying Roos co-owner Jackman in a head-to-head showdown ahead of this weekend’s Spain Sail Grand Prix.
Wearing custom Wolverine and Deadpool helmets designed by artist Painton, proud Aussie Jackman stepped aboard the Bonds Flying Roos’ Australian F50 while Reynolds joined Canadian outfit NorthStar for the showdown.
With both stars joining the crews as sixth sailors, the pair got a taste of the speed and intensity of SailGP firsthand.
For Jackman and Reynolds, whose on-screen rivalry as Wolverine and Deadpool became a global phenomenon, there was plenty at stake – even if this time the claws and katanas were swapped for carbon-fiber F50s.
It was a debut outing on an F50 for Jackman, but Reynolds knew what was coming having experienced the speed of SailGP in Bermuda earlier this year.
“This time I went for it again – I wanted to cross the boat again – and just like last time, I got my ass kicked, but this time I did a little bit better, I think,” Reynolds said. “It was really special. And then of course, humiliating Hugh Jackman… That’s a national pastime in Canada.”
Jackman added: “Watching this team, it’s just unbelievable. They’re so fast, they’re so exciting.”
The showdown came just hours before the Spain Sail Grand Prix, with 13 teams set to battle it out on September 5 and 6 as SailGP’s 2026 Season reaches its tenth event.
And after today’s race, there may be only one question left: does Deadpool finally have the upper hand, or has Wolverine struck back?
