LONG BEACH OLYMPIC CLASSES REGATTA

Long Beach Olympic Classes Regatta

The Long Beach Olympic Classes Regatta wrapped up with a full podium and high spirits, marking a thrilling conclusion to a week of elite racing in the iconic waters off Southern California.

As part of the Sailing Grand Slam, a global series designed to prepare athletes for the LA28 Olympic Games, this regatta drew over 200 sailors from 44 countries all testing their speed, strategy, and stamina on the same course that will decide Olympic medals in three years’ time.

With shifting conditions and world-class competition, Long Beach delivered on its promise as a critical stop on the Olympic pathway, offering valuable race experience and a proving ground for sailing’s rising stars.

US Sailors delivered strong performances all weekend, showcasing their determination and skill.

Wills Stratton and Matei Meglic gained valuable experience as they continue their preparations for the Junior 49erFX Worlds in Copenhagen later this month.

Congratulations to Nevin Snow and Ian MacDiarmid on their victory in the 49er, and to Paris Henken and Helena Scutt for their impressive second place in the 49erFX.

US Sailing High Performance Director Marcus Lynch expressed how thrilled he was to see the first international athletes dipping their toe into Olympic waters and shared his support for U.S. athletes on their journey to becoming members of Team USA for LA28.

The US Sailing ODP program has created an opportunity throughout July for the next generation of US athletes to benchmark themselves against some incredible international Olympic talent, an invaluable step on the pathway toward future success.
