The 2026 International Moth European Championship concluded at Club Nàutic L’Escala in Spain, with a final race day marked by fluctuating wind conditions.
The race day began with light winds, but conditions improved by midday, allowing for three decisive races. These races ultimately determined the championship’s outcome on the Mar d’Empúries.
After a slow start, the wind picked up, enabling the completion of three crucial races. This led to a competitive conclusion of the championship in the Mar d’Empúries.
Enzo Balenger (Club la Pelle – Marseille) emerged as the European Champion, followed by Ryan Littlechild and John Harris. This trio secured a strong international podium.
Local sailors from Club Nàutic l’Escala also showcased impressive performances. Gerard Marín finished 13th, while Marc Verdaguer placed 18th overall in a highly competitive fleet.
Beyond the racing, the event welcomed the public with a spectator boat experience. This initiative allowed fans to get closer to the action and fostered a stronger connection between the championship and L’Escala.
The event concluded with the prize-giving ceremony and closing dinner. These events combined high-level sport with local culture and community spirit, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.
