Cowes Week
Day 7 : All set for brilliant final day of racing
The day dawned bright, with a light breeze. The forecast suggests 10-11 knots, with more by midday, building towards 13-14 knots, even up to 16-17, possibly gusting into the 20s.
First starts will be from the Squadron line and today it’s the J/109s who get away ahead of everyone else. They are followed by a number of the smaller Black Group classes and then White Group.
Committee Vessel 1 will be around Bramble, with IRC Zero off at 1100 followed by the larger Black Group boats.
The Swallows are only planning one race today and have their own Committee Vessel. Due to the possibility of little breeze in Osborne Bay, they may see a later start time. Keep your eyes on the Cowes Week App for any updates.
The aim will be for all classes to finish together on the Squadron line. Trophies today are being awarded by Cowes Town Regatta and adding colour to the day, both the RYS and HMS Tyne are dressed overall.
There are plenty of classes where winners are yet to be decided. Prizegivings start with the Royal Yacht Squadron trophies awarded from 1800. The overall prizegiving is at the Yacht Haven at 1930 where everyone is welcome, followed by the closing party
