GWA Wingfoil World Tour year about to kick-off with 10 events in four disciplines spanning four continents
The GWA Wingfoil World Tour is set for another big season in 2024 with 10 events scheduled on four continents. The tour will include four wingfoil disciplines: Surf-Freestyle and FreeFly-Slalom, and the two new categories introduced in 2023, Wave and Big Air.
The pure-surfing Wave discipline will open the season at the legendary break on Cape Verde’s Sal Island in mid-February, where it made its debut in 2023. The Wave discipline will return to Rio de Janeiro, in July, before revisiting Morocco, for Dakhla’s right-hander in October.
Surf-Freestyle is set to make seven calls during the year with the new destinations of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and Lanzarote, Spain, on the schedule. Leucate, France, will get the Surf-Freestyle ball rolling in early April, with the world champions again crowned in Ceará state, Brazil, in November.
The FreeFly-Slalom champions will also be crowned in Brazil after four calls that will again visit Spain’s Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura for back-to-back stops in July. Gran Canaria will also host the one-stop GWA Big Air World Championships simultaneously.
