Our volunteers, the Village Team are the first faces that our visitors will meet. Our ‘Kaihapai’ or Village Team, are to be a people of hospitality that will embrace all cultures, races, ethnic groups, languages and individuals without bias or prejudice. We want every visitor to feel welcome in our Village and experience the best that our city has to offer. The roles in Village Team will be wide and varied:
Meet and Greet visitors
Crowd Management and Safety
Data Gathering
Crowd Counting
Cup Village Activations, such as the Simulator
Kids areas
This group is the largest and the potential to be the most diverse of our volunteer roles; from 30 persons on the quieter weekdays, going up to 100 on our busy race days. Roles will suit all types as specific allocations will be made on the day of shift according to need; the volunteer can choose the same position or try out another. Lots of variety to be had or keep the same. Can be walking or sedentary, interacting with the public or quieter roles, work alone or part of a team – something for all here.
