Alex Thomson returns home onboard HUGO BOSS

Alex Thomson and his crew returned to their base in Gosport, England, having sailed 8,000 miles from Cape Town aboard the HUGO BOSS, following his retirement from the Vendée Globe regatta.

Alex Thomson and his crew brought the yacht back to port safely, where it will conduct routine service off the UK’s south coast before announcing its plans for 2021.

“It’s great to be back home. 8,000 miles. I’ve learned a ton, like we always do when we go sailing and I’m looking forward to looking at that data again and doing some analysis,” Thomson said.

“For me now, I’ll go home and spend time with my family. HUGO BOSS will get out of the water and into a lavatory, which shouldn’t take long. There are no major issues to report other than a bit of a fix of the repair I did and then we will be back in the water very soon.

“I know a lot of you have been asking what’s next for me and the team. Well there’s a lot to think about. There are a lot of opportunities and I’ll be sitting down with my team for the next few weeks to talk about it. So as soon as I know it … you’ll know! ”
