The sailboat “Malizia” that belonged to Prince Rainier of Monaco, was wrecked.
The sailboat ended up on a cliff and sank in Stromboli
Perini’s sailboat “Malizia” which belonged to Prince Rainier of Monaco, was 25 meters long, was chartered in Trapani for a cruise through the Aeolian Islands, with 5 guests on board and 3 crew members.
While the ship was off Stromboli, there was a fault in the controls that would have compromised navigation. They would have tried to beach the ship, taking advantage of the favorable sea conditions, to avoid the loss of it. Her hull thus ended up against a cliff to the south of the small port of Scari.
Fortunately, all the occupants were unharmed.
This 25-meter sailboat, built in 1989 by Perini Navi, was originally built for Prince Rainier III of Monaco, who named it Malizia, in homage to family tradition.
