Dutreux looks ahead to The Ocean Race

The Ocean Race

After winning The Ocean Race Europe with Offshore Team Germany, Benjamin Dutreux gets his own IMOCA with a focus on the crewed and solo round the world races…

Benjamin Dutreux has announced he will take delivery of the IMOCA currently being used by 11th Hour Racing Team following the Transat Jacques Vabre this autumn.

He says his racing programme will include the 2022-23 edition of The Ocean Race, followed by the 2024 Vendée Globe (he had a strong ninth place finish in the 2020 race in an older-generation, non-foiling boat).

From the team press release:

The team wants to participate in as many races as possible on the IMOCA Globe Series circuit.

The program is long and various, which brings even more interest to the partners. Benjamin’s recent experience on The Ocean Race Europe on board Offshore Team Germany reinforced his strong desire to line up for the start of The Ocean Race in 2022.

“This crewed round-the-world race is the perfect solution to find what makes this boat work and to make the most of its potential…” explains Benjamin. “We are doing everything we can to find sponsors who will want to line up with us in this legendary event which has massive international repercussions.”
