Iguana Pro
The French company Iguana will present a new amphibious boat inspired by its military and emergency offerings, and designed to outperform all other amphibians on the market with a maximum output of 900 horsepower.
The Iguana Pro is a six-seat semi-rigid with a military focus already capable of speeds of up to 55 knots (63.3 mph, 101.9 km / h).
Iguana is adapting the design for the civilian market with a pure focus on peak performance, preparing to launch a two-seat version with twin 450-horsepower outboards.
The new RIB has been structurally reinforced in the tube and hull, and equipped with Ullman seats designed for safety in the water at high speed.
It rolls on a pair of Kevlar reinforced rubber tracks, connected to the hull by strong hydraulically retractable struts. In the water, the tracks are lifted up and out of the way greatly, adding minimal resistance to the boat’s path through the water.

On land, the tracks grip all types of terrain, from soft sand to mud to mossy rocks, and provide a remarkably stable platform that can be tilted up to 40 degrees without losing balance. The Iguana Pro does not fall even with 11 people standing right in front.
Its ground speed is slow and deliberate. It’s a boat that can be safely parked in a garage, safe from bad weather and mooring fees, and then taken out on the water and launched without the need for a towing vehicle. In a couple of minutes you can be in the water and moving quickly.
Iguana says the new boat under construction will be “the fastest amphibious boat in the world” and plans to release more details in July.
The current world record holder, the best we can say, is a WaterCar Panther prototype that achieved 52 knots (60 mph / 96 km / h) in the water in 2010.
However, the Production Panther can only do 39 knots (45 mph) / 72 km / h). Either way, they both appear to be slower than the Iguana Pro, at least until they hit the mainland, where the WaterCar can reach speeds of 129 km / h (80 mph).
