MORE THAN 220 EXHIBITORS PARTICIPATE IN THE PALMA INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW, THE FIRST PRESENTIAL FAIR OF THE SECTOR AFTER THE PANDEMIC
The vice president and counselor for Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, Juan Pedro Yllanes, presented this morning the next edition of the Palma International Boat Show, the first in the face-to-face sector to be held after the pandemic. The event, which will take place from June 3 to 6, at the Moll Vell fairgrounds, is organized by the Institute of Business Innovation of the Balearic Islands (IDI) and the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA). The presentation ceremony was attended by the president of the Mallorca Chamber of Commerce, Antoni Mercant; the president of the Port Authority, Francesc Antich; the president of the Balearic Marine Cluster, Toni Salom; the president of the Association of Nautical Companies of the Balearic Islands, Jaume Vaquer; the managing director of the IDI, Mariona Luis, and the director of the fair, Chema Sans.
The vice-president wanted to highlight the importance of the Palma nautical fair being the first face-to-face event in the sector, since «this makes Mallorca, and more specifically Palma, these days become the world epicenter of nautical, focusing attention of the entire sector internationally ”. Yllanes added that “the fact of starting the season confirms that we have a very important and well-positioned nautical sector throughout the world, and that for us it represents a strategic sector for the industry and the economy of the Balearic Islands”. It must be remembered that the nautical sector is part of the economic diversification plan and the commitment to quality tourism with high added value. Linked to an industrial sector that has a turnover of more than 560 million euros a year, generates more than 5,000 direct jobs and has almost 2,000 companies.
La Palma International Boat Show will have 227 direct exhibitors, spread over more than 80,000 square meters. In addition, there will be around 185 vessels exhibited at sea. Regarding the offer, the presence of all the world’s leading brands that have chosen Palma to present their new products after months of pandemic stands out, and that consolidates the boat show as a preferred destination for recreational boating and the professional nautical industry.
One of the great novelties this year is the collaboration with the Balearic Yacht Show, the virtual fair organized by the Mallorca Chamber of Commerce and the Balearic Marine Cluster. It is an event that was born during the confinement and is held at the same time as the face-to-face fair, in order to create a series of synergies to promote the nautical sector of our islands globally. The Balearic Yacht Show will bring together more than fifty international nautical experts in twenty conferences to discuss the future of the sector from all its aspects: industrial, services, sports, leisure and also environmental.
The president of the Mallorca Chamber of Commerce, Antoni Mercant, has stated that «from the Chamber of Commerce we are strongly committed to sailing as a strategic sector of our economic model and, with a hybrid event like this, we have the opportunity to promote it, without limitations. We redesigned the concept of the Balearic Yacht Show to coexist with the La Palma International Boat Show and thus be able to help our companies to improve their visualization and their online positioning ».
The fair will have a protocol that will guarantee at all times that health measures are complied with to avoid contagion. For example, there will be control at the entrances and exits, capacity limitations and constant reminders to maintain a safe distance and the need to wear masks. The fact that the fair is held outdoors also contributes to making it safer.
