BKK is building the first network of fast chargers for electric boats in Northern Europe
Aker Brygge, Bergen and Florø will soon have fast chargers for electric boats. BKK that carries the cargo successfully, will soon offer to load the ship and the car in the same place.
Norway has led the way in the electric car revolution. Now we want to make it easier to switch to an electric boat, says Jannicke Hilland, CEO of BKK.
BKK is one of the largest renewable energy and energy groups in Norway, and has an ambition to become the largest electrification group in Norway.
The electric ship chargers will be part of the BKK Plug company, which already builds, owns and operates power plants on shore for ships.
The fast charging network will be the first of its kind in Northern Europe and one of the few in the world. The first five charging points are only the first part of the investment.
When electric cars came, there were different charging sockets for different cars. It is now standardized. BKK believes that the same should happen with ships.
BKK is among the largest in Norway for electric car charging. With more than 400 fast chargers in more than 150 locations in Norway. With quick chargers for electric boats, in some places you can charge both the car and the boat in the same place. With the charger in Florø you can charge both the car and the boat.
