Volvo Penta D13 IPS 1350 equips the Mangusta GranSport 33

Mangusta GranSport 33 is one of the first yacht models to be equipped with the new “semi-planing” edition of the Volvo Penta IPS1350.

It is the first time that a yacht from the Overmarine Group’s Mangusta line will be powered by the Volvo Penta Inboard Performance System (IPS) “kit”.
The Mangusta GranSport 33 has a radical design different from the Mangusta tradition,

Volvo Penta recently expanded its range of Inboard Performance Systems (IPS) to benefit large semi-planing yachts.
The torque curve of the new edition’s D13 powertrain has been expertly modified to cope with higher thrust loads at slower speeds, so that it can be cruised comfortably up to 19 knots.

The Mangusta GranSport is a very fast yacht for her size, powered by four Volvo Penta D13 IPS 1350 semi-planing engines, giving a top speed of 26 knots.

By having four smaller engines, instead of two large ones, Overmarine has been able to use the space savings in the engine room to increase the size of the guest cabins. Volvo Penta IPS also reduces vibration and internal engine noise.

The key advantage of Volvo Penta’s IPS system, compared to inner-axle installations, are increased on-board comfort, higher fuel efficiency and longer cruising range.

Volvo Penta IPS also offers an intuitive onboard experience via a simple joystick control, the joystick. Joystick-controlled, single-steer IPS units allow for ultra-fast handling and pilot-like control when maneuvering and docking.
