Super opening day in Malcesine at the 5th 2026 29er EuroCup stage

The fifth stage of the 2026 29er EuroCup has officially started in Malcesine, with a full opening day of racing on Lake Garda.

A strong first day saw 4 races completed across 2 fleets, with 74 boats on the starting line.

Conditions were shaped by a steady southerly breeze, building throughout the day from 14 to 18 knots, offering consistent and exciting racing for the entire fleet.

Clean starts proved to be one of the key elements of the day, with teams needing to stay sharp from the very first signal.

While many sailors are familiar with the northern part of Lake Garda, racing in Malcesine brought a different challenge, with new wind angles and tactical decisions throughout the course.

Cartoon Night

After a full day on the water, sailors will have the chance to unwind together at Malcesine with a Cartoon Night, a relaxed after-race moment open to all teams.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Fraglia Vela Malcesine, it will be the perfect opportunity to chill out, connect, and enjoy the evening together off the water.

2 Minutes No Trace

This edition of the 29er EuroCup in Malcesine also features a dedicated sustainability initiative: “2 Minutes No Trace”.

The concept is simple but impactful — each team is invited to take two minutes onshore after racing to actively leave no trace behind, collecting any waste in their area and ensuring the venue remains as clean as they found it.

It is a small collective action that, when multiplied across the fleet, creates a meaningful positive impact on the environment of Lake Garda.

All contributions to the “2 Minutes No Trace” initiative will be considered as part of the selection process for the 2026 Sustainability Award, highlighting teams that actively engage in protecting the sailing environment both on and off the water.

We are looking forward to receiving the videos and content from the sailors, showing how they take part in the initiative and contribute to making sustainability part of everyday racing life.
