29er South American Championship

The 2026 29er South American Championship has come to a close at Veleiros do Sul in Porto Alegre, delivering four days of racing and a total of 10 races under a wide range of conditions.

The event opened with light and unstable breeze, where Argentina’s Nicolas and Lucas Cozar took the early lead after the first day. On Day 2, conditions remained tricky but more consistent, allowing three races to be completed and bringing a major shift in the standings, with Brazil’s Zion Brandão and João Vicente Joppert moving into the lead after winning two races.

The final day delivered the most dramatic moment of the championship. The Cozar brothers dominated with four race wins, closing the gap to just one point, but Brandão and Joppert held their nerve to secure the overall title and become back-to-back South American Champions.

Jess Watson and Isabella Hermann Zorzi completed the podium in third overall while also claiming the Women’s title after a consistent series.

With tight racing, changing conditions and a final showdown decided by the smallest of margins, the championship highlighted the growing level and competitiveness of the 29er fleet in South America.
