SailGP
Peter Burling’s New Zealand once again proved itself as the SailGP team to beat when racing got underway in Dubai, navigating tricky light wind conditions and overcoming crew transfer disruption to top the leaderboard after five fleet races.
The team went head to head with Emirates GBR – driven by SailGP veteran Dylan Fletcher – and the United States in a fiercely fought Final, which saw plenty of lead changes. But tactical nous and pure speed saw the Kiwis perform a dramatic last minute dive inside Emirate GBR to seize the lead and take the win in the hotly contested season opener!
Elsewhere, we had dramatic penalties, close calls and the racing debuts of fledgling teams Red Bull Italy and Mubadala Brazil. Get the lowdown from the first event of the 2025 Season, with highlights, driver reactions and the chance to win the celebratory bottle from Dubai – signed by the Kiwi team.
