Today was the second day of races in the ILCA 6 2024 Youth and Men’s Worlds Championships, held in the city of Mar del Plata and organized by the Yacht Club Argentino and the International Laser Class Association.
It was a warm day with northwest winds and a forecast of a shift to the south by noon, which occurred as the racing day was coming to an end.
The day started with 15-knot winds, gradually decreasing in intensity throughout the day.
In the Open category, with only one race completed, Argentine Francisco Renna continues to lead, securing a third-place finish in today’s race. Brazilian Antonio Cavalcanti Rosa is two points behind. In third place is Argentine Juan Pablo Bisio, who won the only race of the day. “Despite the onshore wind direction, there weren’t many shifts, and a fair and clean race was possible,” said Bisio.
In the women’s category, only one race was completed. The top three positions remain almost unchanged: Italians Maria Vittoria Arseni and Ginevra Caracciolo are in first and second place, respectively. In third place, as yesterday, is Ukrainian Alina Shapovalova.
The youth male category completed two races, and Italian Antonio Pascali continues to lead. Brazilian Gustavo Canovas Kiessling is in second place, and in third place is his compatriot Thomas Vives Potthoff, who had a very good first race.
At the end of the day, an after race was held for all competitors. Tomorrow, the qualifying series will continue.
