The third day of races in the 2024 ILCA 6 Women’s World Championship was once again marked by weather conditions. This event is taking place in the city of Mar del Plata, organized by the Yacht Club Argentino and the International Laser Class Association.
The day unfolded with a very gentle wind coming from the SE, rotating to the E with about 8 knots. The storm that was approaching in the afternoon allowed only one race.
In the sole race of the day, the Dutch sailor Marit Bouwmeester, a four-time world champion and former Olympic champion, showcased her skills by winning the race with a significant lead from the start.
On the overall results, the top two positions have not changed from the previous day: the Danish and current Olympic champion, Anne Marie Rindom, remains in the lead despite having a poor race today. In the second position, Sweden’s Josefin Olsson continues, and German sailor Julia Busselberg climbs to the third position to complete the podium.
This concludes the qualifying stage, and tomorrow the fleet will be divided into gold and silver.
