SAILGP : FIRST F50s HIT THE WATER TO BEGIN TRAINING AHEAD OF DUBAI

The first F50s have hit the water to begin training ahead of this weekend’s Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix presented by P&O Marinas.

The Danish and Swiss teams were seen sharing the Switzerland F50 in training, while Taylor Canfield led his first training sessions as USA driver.

Elsewhere, Ben Ainslie’s Emirates Great Britain was seen putting the British F50 through its paces as the team gears up for its ‘home’ event.

Training will continue ahead of official practice racing on Friday, December 8, where teams will have the opportunity to size each other up across three fleet races for the first time.

Official racing will kick off on December 9, with three fleet races, before continuing on December 10 with two further fleet races and the all-important, winner-takes-all, three-boat showdown.

Heading into Dubai, three-time champions Australia currently sit at the top of the leaderboard, followed by ROCKWOOL DEN in second and the United States in third.

Both Australia and the USA will feature new drivers in Dubai – with Jimmy Spithill stepping in for Australia driver Tom Slingsby, who is out on paternity leave, while Taylor Canfield replaces Spithill as permanent USA driver.
