The European team continues to head the rankings and leads the fleet into the south Atlantic…

Just after 2am UTC, the GUYOT environnement – Team Europe crew led the IMOCA fleet across the equator and into the south Atlantic ocean.

After 5d 07h 55min 11s of racing, skipper Robert Stanjeks team is the first to slide into the southern hemisphere.

The stats below show the timings for the equator crossing. Of note is the distance each boat has sailed to this point. This is where the difference in strategy shows clearly – GUYOT environnement to the east has sailed 230 miles less that Team Malizia to the west, and is using that advantage to lead on the rankings.
